Civilization Televised, Violence Scripted

The presence of CCTV tends to keep the ill-behaved ones in line most of the time. After all, the English do know how to behave when being watched. Do not go into the suburbs or residential areas. More than once I have seen drivers in those areas randomly throw glass bottles out the windows at women and children that they thought not to be of the same class. Or maybe they are all in rival gangs and no one has told me – seriously, the place is reminiscent of a bad prison movie and most of the English I have met would be incredibly proud to be in such a film.

About cassidyclay1

I am one of those people that vacations outside of tourist destinations in order to get a real feel for what an area is like beyond the polished lies they plaster all over tourism guides. I am also one of those people that considers a “vacation” to be something that is a minimum of three months long and that sometimes stretches to years. I enjoy getting to know the real people (usually). I entrench myself in a society. I learn how they cook their foods, their customs, their peeves, their ways of being, and most of all – I learn their secrets and how they really live when no one is looking.

My brother-in-law is from England so what you have to say about it is pretty interesting.

This post was the most cutting of all. Very strong stuff; excellent.

A bazillion years ago, when “jogging” was REALLY the rage in the U.S., people who did not do it resented those who did. It seems it was seen as an elitist pursuit–especially in “the heartland”. I, who am female, 5’7″, and was then 113 lbs., had 16oz. cups full to the brim with ice and soda flung from passing cars at my jogging back and head. Once, a can. If our soda had still come in bottles, who knows?
